Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival

If there’s a chill in the air, you know it’s almost time for the Steamboat Winter Carnival. This annual event celebrates over 100 years of mountain heritage and our tradition of winter sports.

Neighbors and guests alike gather to shake off their cabin fever and enjoy a variety of unique attractions you won’t find anywhere else. Highlights include sleigh rides, fireworks and the unforgettable Night Show Extravaganza, with skiers in lighted suits zooming down the slopes.

Steamboat Pro Rodeo Series

Fearless riders. Clouds of dirt. The roar of the crowd. The rodeo has been a staple of Steamboat Springs for well over 100 years. Our skilled cowboys and cowgirls show their mettle all summer long at the Steamboat Pro Rodeo Series. This action-packed event offers unforgettable thrills and chills, including traditional bull riding, barrel racing, saddleback riding and steer wrestling. Don’t miss the world-class rodeo during your stay in Steamboat.

Mainstreet Steamboat Springs Farmers Market

Indulge in local flavors at the Mainstreet Farmers Market. Every Saturday throughout the summer season, local vendors and artists hawk their wares. If you’re looking for a unique gift or Steamboat signature item, this is where to find it. Unique offerings include meats, greens, artisan items and cottage industry products. Spend your Saturday strolling down Yampa and 7th Streets as part of your Steamboat Springs experience.

Steamboat Food and Wine Festival

Our local Food and Wine Festival celebrates the culinary arts in its many forms. Each renowned chef and winemaker brings the best of their craft, allowing patrons to experience the most luxurious sensations. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of each ingredient’s origins — from field to fork, vine to glass. The dining experiences are carefully curated, creating a fantastic fusion of flavors.

Yoga on the Green is held Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9 -10 am throughout the summer, weather permitting.  Meet on the Green in the Botanic Gardens.  Practicing on the Park Green is unlike any class you’ve ever taken. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, delicate gardens, and serene pond, you’ll find the peace and stillness is unmatched in the Botanic Park.

Participants must wear a face mask or keep six feet socially distant without a mask. Bring a face mask, mat or towel, water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Walk, bike, or carpool to yoga whenever possible as there is limited parking.

A $10 donation is requested.  Funds help support the Botanic Park and fund instructors.

The 10th annual Yampa Valley Crane Festival takes place September 2-5, 2021 in Steamboat Springs and Hayden, Colorado featuring the Rocky Mountain Greater Sandhill Cranes that breed and stage in the Yampa Valley. The festival presents crane, bird and nature activities including a demonstration with live raptors and other live Colorado native species, bird art exhibits, workshops, documentary films and expert speakers.

The 2021 keynote speaker is Dr. Richard Beilfuss, President and CEO of the International Crane Foundation. Other featured speakers include Steve Burrows, award-winning Canadian mystery writer, journalist, and past recipient of a “Nature Writer of the Year” award from BBC Wildlife, and Arvind Panjabi, avian conservation scientist for Bird Conservancy of the Rockies and coauthor of the study published in Science magazine on the decline of North American birds. Paul Tebbel leads guided crane viewings and presents a “Cranes 101” talk. Ted Floyd, the editor of Birding magazine, leads the guided bird walks and offers a special presentation at The Nature Conservancy’s historic Carpenter Ranch. The complete schedule will be available July 1.

SSSR continues to be the top Pro-amateur race in the Rocky Mountains giving racers at all levels a challenging and fun race over 3 stages around Routt county.

The fastest time across all 3 stages is the winner! This community event brings together local sponsors, local racers, volunteers, and once again a portion of the event proceeds go to support Steamboat Velo, Lift-Up Food Bank, and Routt County Humane Society.

The Main Street Steamboat Farmers Market is located along the scenic Yampa River Yampa Street between 6th and 8th Streets. Held on Saturdays from June 5 to September 18, the official hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. but if you are out riding your bike or getting in a quick run before the day’s events, you can usually pick up a cup of coffee, pastry or even a breakfast burrito before the crowds arrive.

The Farmers Market features fresh fruit and vegetables each week, as well as local meat, cheese, and baked goods. The market focuses on food and offers a wide variety of local and cottage industry products. You can pick up fresh bread and pies, local beef, bison, pork, and lamb as well as jams, syrups, and honey. It’s a great place to stop for lunch as well.

The weekend kicks off on Friday with a stroll to Steamboat restaurants, tasting beers at your leisure while you walk historic downtown. Saturday’s festival at the base of Steamboat Resort includes a Beer Garden with over 40 craft brewers and the infamous Beef Cook-off where our local chefs vie for your vote of the best beef brisket in town. Run Rabbit Run is a weekend event featuring two world-class mountain ultra marathons.

Some of the world's greatest endurance athletes attempt to complete these arduous 50- and 100- mile footraces, through the mountains around Steamboat.

The 50M and 100M ultramarathon trail races start at the base of the ski area and will take participants along the beautiful Continental Divide trails and a variety of trail networks in Steamboat Springs. The 100-miler features 21,000 feet of vertical gain and loss; the 50-miler, 9,000 feet.

This race benefits the kids of northern Colorado.
